Prima Ballerina!

I have been looking at this little tutu hanging in her room for too long...it had to be worn before it didn't fit anymore!

Natural History Museum

There is a butterfly exhibit at the Natural History Museum here that I have been wanting to go to for SO long! It only lasts for a couple months out of the year, and since we are moving soon, I figured this was our chance!

Cody was in Oakland at a Raider game with his friends, so it was just me and the kids.

I didn't really know what to expect, but I should have known it would be outside...I mean, they ARE butterflies.

When we got to the museum, I see a little greenhouse building off to the side. There are a few people standing outside, and they are fanning themselves off with papers. Did I mention that it was 104 degrees today?

We walked INSIDE the museum, and I talked to the girl behind the counter, and I asked about the butterflies. My question..."is it REALLY HOT out there?" She gave me this look, and I knew instantly. This was NOT going to be a good idea. It's in a closed up glass building outside with no air circulation whatsoever. It took us 2 seconds to ditch the butterfly idea, and opted instead to stay in the air conditioning and look at the animals.

After the museum, my best friend Jennifer came over to spend the evening with me. She lives only 45 minutes away, and we don't see nearly enough of each other. I think when I am living far away, that will be something we regret...we could have spend SO MUCH MORE time together!! Anyway, we went to dinner, then we had a bottle or 2 of wine, and watched our old favorite movie...Dazed and Confused.

It was a good day!

Happy 7 Months, Maddie!

So I'm a little late. Better late than never!

Our little girl is growing bigger and more beautiful every day! She has the best personality. She is always smiling and laughing and talking...she really couldn't be more perfect.

Happy Birthday Maddie!

Happy Birthday Cody!!!

We had Cody's birthday dinner tonight at BJ's, and had such a great time!

Most of our closest friends were there to celebrate with us. There were drinks, great conversations, great food, and a giant Pizookie!! (freshly baked cookie with delicious vanilla ice cream) Oh, and of course there were great pictures!

Some of these pictures (the better ones) were taken by a good friend of ours, Noa.

The First Day of School!

Today was the day!! He got up early, put on his new school clothes, and was in a great mood.

Today was the only day I was able to walk him to his classroom, and I was so excited!! Mr. Spence was right there at the door to shake my hand and introduce himself. Then we found Dylan's desk, and of course his best friend found him as soon as we walked in the door. And that's when he forgot I was in the room.

I gave him a goodbye hug and I slowly started walking toward the door to leave. My eyes were filling up with tears. I think the teacher must have noticed this, because he put his hand on my shoulder and says, "Don't worry...he'll be very well taken care of." This made me feel so much better.

Until I got to the car...when I just couldn't stop the tears from coming.
I have made an amazing person.

When I picked him up from school, he was SO happy! And when I asked him how his day was, he said it was amazing!!

School Starts Tomorrow!!

I think I may be more excited than Dylan is. Actually I know I'm more excited.

I had the greatest idea to get us up early this morning, and get ready just like we would if it were the first day. Dylan wasn't too pleased...until I offered to cook him breakfast.

The rest of the day Dylan spent with his Dad. Madison & I stayed home, and I cleaned the whole house, did laundry, picked out and ironed Dylan's clothes for the whole week, and made a nice night-before-school-starts dinner.

School starts at 8:30am. Parents get to walk the kids to their classrooms on the first day, and I'm so excited to see his class and meet his teacher. When it's time for me to leave, I will surely cry, as I have every year so far. I wonder if he will be embarrassed when I hug him goodbye. *sigh* They grow up way too fast.

I can't believe my baby is in 2nd grade! My eyes are welling up as I type. It seems like the years are flying by, and every day he gets more amazing. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect son, and I couldn't be more proud of him. He may be a big boy now, but he'll always be my baby.

2 Days Till School Starts!!

It was all we talked about all morning. Today is the day his school posts the class lists!! Will he get the teacher he wants? Will he & his best friend be in the same class again?

Cody was working, so it was up to me to get us all ready & out the door. This is not as easy as it sounds.

At about 5:00, I am carrying the diaper bag, my purse, and Madison in her carseat. Dylan is right behind me. I tell him to close the door behind him, and he does. No more than 3 seconds later I realize that my keys are hanging on their hook inside the house. Doors locked. Windows locked. The car keys are with the house keys, so we can't drive anywhere. Did I really just lock my kids & myself out of the house? I called Cody, and of course my Prince Charming came to my rescue. He drove from West Hollywood to Glendale, on a Friday during rush hour, in only 20 minutes, and he wasn't even a little upset! And oddly enough, I wasn't pissed off either. It was actually really nice to hang out on the grass with Dylan & Madison, and it was a beautiful day!

After the whole key debacle, we made it to his school & found out that he got exactly what teacher he wanted, and his best friend is in his class again !

We celebrated the rest of the beautiful day by taking a walk and enjoying the weather. Back-to-school weather.

A Visit From Family!

I knew my mom was going to be in town, and we were supposed to have breakfast on Wednesday morning. I was very surprised when my little brother texted me and said he was with her!

I haven't seen Daniel since January, and I really missed him! He & his girlfriend stayed at our house for 2 days, and of course we took him to the Happiest Place on Earth! My excuse...he hasn't been since he was little. He had to go. Plus, my oldest friend Angela was in town on vacation with her family, and they were going to be at Disneyland, too. I haven't seen her since high school!! We met up and talked for a little bit, caught up as much as we could, and then went our separate ways!

Rock The Bells!

For the first time in 6 months, Cody & I had a babysitter for the whole day!! We spent our day-cation at Rock The Bells, of course.

We got to see a bunch of friends, listen to some great music, and I had a couple of beers!

What Happened to my Car!!!

It was a Sunday. A hot one. Cody was at work all day, and Dylan was visiting his Dad. I stayed home all day to clean & hang out with Maddie.

Nothing out of the ordinary....until....

Cody came home from work at like 11:30 at night, and is not happy. I ask him what is wrong, and he says someone vandalized my car. Of course I immediately go outside to look, and sure enough...vandalized.

Someone scratched in my windows!! One of my windows now says "Mexico" and another one says "Loco".

I had the police come out and take a police report, and they took some pictures. We think it is this group of teenagers that hang out in front of our apartment building all the time. They have never caused problems before, so I could be absolutely wrong, but I don't think I am. They hang out in the parking area and tag on the walls "FTP". I'll leave you to figure out what that means.

The next day, Dylan & I get in the car to leave, and Dylan says to me, "Mom, my window says LOCO, what does yours say?"

Anyway, I'm sure the windows will have to be replaced, and I'm sure it will be expensive. So if you should see me driving on the freeway, don't laugh.

Saturday

Today was a typical Saturday filled with family errands!

We started with Dylan's acting class, then a manicure and pedicure for mom, then lunch, then SCHOOL SHOPPING!!

I was really excited to go school shopping for Dylan this year. It's the first year that he actually has somewhat of an opinion what he wears. We went to Tilly's and to Macy's, and he helped me pick out what he liked. It was so fun!! The only problem we ran into was pants...he is growing taller, but is still so skinny!! We have to buy him "slim" jeans. I wish I had the same problem! Ha!

Tomorrow, cleaning day!!
